DESCRIPTION:Join us for Brita Nelson’s lecture\, Now You See It\, Now You Don’t via Zoom at the United Methodist Church \nBrita started seriously quilting in the 1980’s. Her best friend from High School is a quilter and Brita would buy her fabric and notions for Christmas and birthdays. After a while all the pretty colors started drawing Her in. In April of 2017 I retired from work\, moved back to PA and devoted myself to serious quilting and sharing this passion which has given me so much joy. Find out more on Brita’s website www.questioningquilter.com \nLearn about the magic and beauty of disappearing blocks with this interactive online lecture\, demo and trunk show. Using 3 cameras\, one on Brita and the quilts\, one pointing straight down at the cutting mat\, and one close-up on the quilts\, she will be able to show you how easy it is to turn simple blocks into beautiful complex patterns. Using the Zoom format\, you will be able to ask questions during the presentation. Brita will also show you how different block designs can be enhanced by color choices or slight modifications to make even more interesting full quilts.

SUMMARY:Disappearing Block Sampler Workshop with Brita Nelson - Day 1 of 2
DESCRIPTION:Day 1 – Feb. 17\, 2024 \nDay 2 – Feb 24\, 2024 \nThis 6-hour workshop will be structured similar to a “sew along” and will be held over 2 days (3 hours each). There are 9 blocks and Brita will teach each one in turn. She will have 2 cameras\, one on her and the sewing machine and one pointing straight down at the cutting mat and pressing surface. Brita will demonstrate how to make the block along with little tips on accurate piecing and pressing. The students will then follow along and take turns showing the class how their block came out. The Zoom features allow Brita to answer questions immediately and help anyone who might be having a little trouble. As some students finish before others\, she will show other possible layouts and talk about things like how to enlarge the pattern\, or use different colors and how these blocks might look in a finished quilt. \nSchedule for workshop days: \n9:30am – Zoom sign in \n10am-1pm – Workshop
